Navigating Teacher Credentialing

AB 1505 changed charter school teacher credentialing rules and introduced new assignment requirements, a grace period, tools like local assignment options, credentialing monitoring processes, and more. Since then, charters have navigated the CalSAAS annual assignment monitoring system that continues to evolve. And since AB 599, some charter schools have been identified for monitoring under the Williams case as a result of their flagged misassignments, even when such assignments are permissible by law.

In this interactive session, we will discuss real-life credentialing challenges on topics such as the scope of the grace period for continuing teachers, addressing CalSAAS exceptions and local authorizer questions, using local assignment options, Williams list monitoring, and navigating hard-to-fill teacher assignments. Attendees will gain useful knowledge and tools to use at their respective schools.
