Measuring Success through the Lens of Renewal
Hear how a school leader has developed an ongoing cycle of evaluating success on multiple measures, aligned to the charter's mission and with a focus on what matters for renewal. With goals aligned to renewal targets and built into the LCAP, Karla Gandiaga, Head of School at ARISE High School, has actionable data accessible to inform decisions and engage the school community. In 2019, Ms. Gandiaga redesigned the LCAP for ARISE High School to better represent its program, purpose, and community. In doing so, she also made it more streamlined, manageable, and compliant. ARISE High School has set up regular systems for engaging with data, and most of these never mention the words "LCAP" or even "renewal." But when it is time to reflect and update the LCAP, there is a natural extension from the authentic analysis, engagement and planning and the formal documentation. With the redesign, she is able to keep the school community well informed and focused on the journey.
