CSDC Code of Conduct

All attendees, speakers, sponsors and volunteers at our conference are required to agree with the following code of conduct. Organizers will enforce this code throughout the event. We expect cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everybody.

A Harassment-free Environment

CSDC is dedicated to providing a harassment-free program, training, or event experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment of participants or contributors in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any session, including talks, workshops, parties, social media, or through any other online media. Participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the program or event without a refund at the discretion of CSDC.

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, technology choices, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual or racist attention (hereafter referred to as “inappropriate").

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

Sponsors and Exhibitors

Sponsors and exhibitors are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, sponsors should not use sexualized or prejudiced images, activities, or other material. Exhibitor attendees and staff (including volunteers) should not use inappropriate clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create an inappropriate environment.

Consequences

If a participant engages in harassing or inappropriate behavior, CSDC and its staff may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the program or event with no refund.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of staff immediately. Program and event staff can be reached at events@chartercenter.org or by calling (916) 538-6612. Immediate concerns can also be brought to the CSDC Information Desk on-site.

CSDC staff will help participants contact appropriate authorities, if necessary, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the program or event. We value your attendance. 

Health and Safety

Based on our shared value of in-person conference experiences, as stakeholders conference organizers, staff, volunteers, presenters, exhibitors, and attendees we all have a role to play in the mitigation of risk. The code of conduct below is meant to serve as a reminder and motivation that if we all collectively respect the significance of this role, we are supporting the well-being of our colleagues and our communities. 

Before Leaving Home

  • Meet any event or program-specific guidelines or criteria ,whether demonstrating proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test.
  • Follow relevant guidance provided by the CDC and your local health department.
  • Adhere to travel restrictions and guidance issued in the areas you will be travelling to and from.
  • Evaluate your own health and that of people you are in close contact with.
  • Stay at home and do not travel if you feel sick.
  • Contact CSDC if you have concerns.

On-site During the Event

  • Follow preventive actions to help prevent the spread of germs including:

    • Washing hands often with soap and water or using hand sanitization stations.
    • Avoiding touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
    • Covering your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing.
    • Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces.
    • Agreeing to wear a mask, if appropriate, for the duration of the event. CSDC will provide a new mask to each participant on each day of the event when requested.
    • Follow social distance protocols and traffic flow signs, and respect others’ personal space.
  • Go to the Information Desk at any time if you feel sick or are experiencing flu-like symptoms.

Post-Event

If you test positive for COVID-19 up to 14 days after returning home, please contact CSDC.
