Montoya Mayo is a passionate educator whose philosophy of education is rooted in being a “warm demander”, someone who combines high expectations with deep care and support. With 17 years of experience in education, her journey began as an after-school educator offering homework support, dance fitness and poetry enrichment classes, SEL classes and summer writing camps. These early experiences laid the foundation for her teaching super power: student engagement. Montoya went on to thrive as an upper elementary school teacher, known for creating dynamic and inclusive learning environments. Today, she serves as a Teacher on Special Assignment, where she engages TK-8 students in learning through innovative instructional design and builds educator capacity by designing and developing job-embedded professional learning. She specializes in creating impactful and accessible microlearning video content that supports professional learning and educator growth.
