Developing Efficient and Effective School Operations

Developing effective and efficient school operations plays a much bigger role in raising student performance than most school leaders realize. Unfortunately, many schools tend to overly focus on penny pinching strategies to make their operations more efficient, which is usually a losing approach to achieving high performance. In practice, most school leaders are unaware of how inefficient their systems, staffing structures, and resources allocations are to supporting and achieving their school’s long-term goals.

In this session, participants will learn the most common inefficiencies in charter schools, how to fix them, and learn about helpful metrics for measuring a school’s operational performance. In addition, examples will be shared of cost-saving and operational effectiveness improvements made by the Port of Los Angeles High School after undergoing an efficiency audit.
