Fundraise with Confidence: Maximizing Opportunities and Limiting Risk

Fundraising can transform a school’s programs and mission—but it also comes with compliance and governance considerations. The presenters will break down essentials, like the charitable trust doctrine, state and local registrations, IRS standards, and the pros/cons of separate fundraising foundations. Participants will learn best practices for their school’s fiscal policies and special rules that apply for raffles, bingo, and food sales (think candygrams, bake sales, and food trucks). Together, participants and presenters will also unpack how schools can implement strong volunteer policies, address conflict issues, and other challenges that can intersect with fundraising.
