Charter Teacher Credentialing in 2025-26

When/Where:
,

Designed for both credentialing veterans and newcomers, this popular and information-rich session breaks down the evolving landscape of charter school credentialing for 2025–26. Participants will gain a clear understanding of current credentialing requirements, recent changes, and the high-stakes systems used to monitor compliance.

We’ll cover key updates, including the full implementation of Assembly Bill 1505 (effective July 1, 2025), new transitional kindergarten (TK) credential requirements (effective August 1, 2025), and frequently asked questions related to English Learner authorizations.

Participants will explore California’s layered accountability systems—CalSAAS, the Williams List, and Assignment Monitoring Outcome (AMO) reports. They will examine how these systems connect (or don’t), what they say about a school’s credentialing data, and how to improve accuracy and compliance.

A core focus of the session will be to introduce and discuss (time permitting!) some of the tools and strategies for addressing gaps when an educator doesn’t yet hold the exact credential needed. Participants will walk through local assignment options (LAOs) and emergency permits—including STSPs, PIPs, GELAPs, SELAPs, and the Temporary County Certificate (TCC). Because these tools require careful use, the presenters will share practical resources, checklists, and guidance.

This collaborative session invites charter credentialing professionals and COE staff to join the conversation. Come with questions and tips—together, the participants will tackle real-world credentialing puzzles and share effective, compliant solutions.
