When Steve started School Wise Press in 1995, he was moved to help parents make sense of schools’ vital signs. Between 1998 and 2013, his company helped over 240 district leaders tell their California schools’ stories in the form of school accountability report cards. Starting in 2013, his team began building visual evidence and delivering measurement workshops to improve the ability of site and district leaders to plan and manage more wisely. This team, the K12 Measures project, is active today in California assisting authorizers, charter schools, districts and county offices of education. His articles have appeared in Education Week, The74, San Francisco Chronicle, EdSource, Ed100, EDCAL and EduWonk.
