Just deciphering the renewal statutes is an accomplishment. Putting it into practice is even more complicated. Shared understanding about how to apply the renewal standards and data provisions in renewal decisions has not yet developed in the field. This session provides a checklist and supporting framework for considering data against the three findings required to deny charter petitions under the default renewal process (“middle” track).

K12 Measures / School Wise Press

When Steve started School Wise Press in 1995, he was moved to help parents make sense of schools’ vital signs. Starting in 2013, his team began building visual evidence and delivering measurement workshops to improve the ability of site and district leaders to plan and manage more wisely. This team, the K12 Measures project, is active today in California assisting authorizers, charter schools, districts and county offices of education.
