Mr. McGrath is also the Founding Director of IVA High, which equips students to think well: critically, creatively, and with a capacity for self-growth. His education background includes work as a high school teacher, charter school board officer, and college faculty member. He earned his undergraduate degree from U.C. Berkeley, a Master’s in Philosophy of Education at U.C. Irvine, and a J.D. from UCLA School of Law.James J. Jason Serves as the Managing Director for Charter Impact. He manages a team of 11 directors who oversee all financial aspects for more than 100 charter schools throughout California. Before joining Charter Impact, Jason was a Senior Director of Finance for a large network of charter schools in California. During his 5 years there, he was responsible for the financial projections, cash management, banking relationships, and ad hoc analysis and reporting for 20 California charter schools. He is a strong advocate for school choice and opportunities outside of the traditional public schools currently available to students.

Scholarship Prep
Jason Watts is the creator and Executive Director for Scholarship Prep, which operates four schools in Southern California encompassing grades TK-8/ He began his career in education teaching grades Kindergarten through eighth. He eventually became a site administrator at the top-performing district school in San Bernardino County and later co-founded an award-winning charter school organization before developing the concept for Scholarship Prep. Scholarship Prep has received the CSP Federal Grant for Expansion and Replication in the amount of $12m for their successful work with underserved students, including a significant percentage of homeless and foster youth. The organization has also received the Homeless Innovative Programs (HIP) grant, which is used to to scale up their innovative practices and develop a model for other LEAs that work with students experiencing homelessness.
