Dr. Erika Vanderspek

Dr. Erika Vanderspek's entire 20+ years in education has been in charter schools. In her current role, she oversees operations, finance, personnel, and student achievement in nonclassroom-based independent study. She also serves as liaison to the board and works closely with legal counsel. Erika is passionate about supporting special education, MTSS programs, and the WASC process, and has chaired multiple WASC visits. Her expertise includes the charter petition process and presenting to authorizing boards. Before moving into administration, she was a teacher for an independent study charter and taught 3rd grade at a site-based charter. Dr. Vanderspek holds a B.A. and teaching credential from San Diego State University, an M.A. in Teaching from National University, and a Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership from University of Massachusetts Global. Her dissertation research focuses on developing resilience in charter leaders.
