Karen joined CharterSAFE in March 2020 bringing with her over 40 years of insurance and risk management experience in both private and public sectors. She also serves as Board President for (PARMA) Public Agency Risk Management Association whose mission is dedicated to the professional development of all California public agency personnel with responsibility for risk management.

Karla has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California, and has SPHR, PHRca, SHRM-SCP designations from the Society for Human Resources Management and Human Resources Certification Institute. Karla developed 14 HR online courses and multiple webinars for California charter schools.
